Marie Sharp opens in San Ignacio

From her southern Belize property, Marie Sharp now brings her flavorful hot sauces to San Ignacio. Just a short drive away from our ecovillage in Belizeher store offers all of the varieties of her hot sauces, jams and refreshments. Marie Sharp 's Tourist Center & Culinary Class opened its doors offering tourists the opportunity toprepare and enjoy making the main and authentic Belizean dish and have fun along the way.


Marie Sharp Tourist Center and culinary class is open every day from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. during the course you have the opportunity to learn so much about the food and culture of Belize. You learn to cookone of Belize’smain cultural dishes, the well-known rice and beans withstew chicken, fried plantains, potato salad and of course as every meal must include a delicious dessert bread pudding. You will then be able to go home to Better In Belize ecovillage and prepare these dishes for your family.

The cooking class is available to a minimum of 2 person for
$42 US and takes an approximate time of 2 to 2 ½ hours. It is definitely an enjoyable and cultural experiencewhere you will interact with locals and visitors alike and make friends. You will be guided step by step in the cooking process that you will be able to prepare this dish all on your own once you go back to the ecovillage in Belize.

The center also has a Travelers mini museum which is a rum tasting room where you get the chance to sample from 5 vintage rums or purchase a bottle or two of wine to enjoy at your Belize off grid home. The rum tasting tour is offered for the price of $12 US per person. The duration of the tour is between 40 -45 mins and you can also request any of the cocktails that are available.
